I have had a handful of popular recipes at this point. My mustache cake pops were quite the hit, and there were several meltdowns over the Cracker Jack and Dulce De Leche Ice Cream. Serious. Meltdowns. I was not prepared, however, for how psychotic… I mean enthusiastic, people acted when they discovered my cupcake stuffed strawberries. My brownie fudge cake and cheesecake-stuffed strawberries too.
Like, hair pulling, banshee screaming, peeing their pants freaking out.
Haha Boy Meets World.
The majority of responses were overwhelmingly positive, with an occasional dash of disapproval. It’s just food people, chilaxxxxx.
Here are a few of my favorite quotes I have read in response to the cupcake-stuffed strawberries:
“…Shut everything else down, shut it all down.”
“AFSJHDKFHDKJFHDKJFGKDF THIS EXISTS. LIFE = COMPLETE.”
“What wizard do I have to kiss for this decadent magic to be mine?”
“trying to have this right meow.”
“Get the hell in my mouth you delicious things you.”
“I need to try these like i need air to live.”
“oh.. i guess there is a god”
“Are….. are you a wizard”
“Brain just exploded!”
“EVERYTHING WAS BEAUTIFUL AND NOTHING WAS HURT.”
“THESE DON’T EXIST IN the real world, do they??!”
“i think i might cry. this is so beautiful.”
“I just died.. and my last word was “nom.”
“Oh, crap. I need to prepare for a Quidditch tournament, and this is not helping.”
Of course, I am dying to post my favorite negative comment as well:
“The sluts have taken over healthy food.”
…….. baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahahahaha fbldkberbgiulwegiegrdn;gbeebvwevjkbn;b
For reals? I never even fathomed the possibility of ever being called a slut over food. I feel so honored.
Some people were a little insulted that I “ruined a perfectly good strawberry.” I look at it this way. Strawberries alone are amazing. I currently snack all day on fresh fruits and vegetables, including strawberries. That doesn’t mean you can’t have fun with food too. Remove that pole from your butt people and learn to be more accepting of change and new ideas. I’m not telling you to eat this everyday. There is this new fangled idea that I know is difficult for many (especially us Americans) to grasp, but here goes:
It’s called IN MODERATION.
wait…what is that?!? I have never heard of it!
I am afraid to see how they reacted over apple pie. Or fruit tart. Or strawberry shortcake. Or peach cobbler. Or fruit cake (okay that stuff is pretty gross so if they want to get pissed over that I would understand) Or any fruit sorbet. Don’t go ruining a perfectly good tomato by cooking it into sauce, spreading it over thick carb-ridden dough, and smothering it in cheese.
Relax, man….. “This aggression, will not stand, man.” (bonus points for the first person who can name where that quote is from)
As my pal Vinny said, “Haters gonna hate. Bakers gonna bake.” I got my posse anyway. My peeps, homies, lax bros, fraternity, members of Mensa, wateva . The underground movement. Oh, wait. I should stop here. The first rule about 1 Fine Cookie is that you do not talk about 1 Fine Cookie. All kidding aside, there are some lovely photographs out there of recreations of my recipe. Brought to you by the 1 Fine Cookie entourage.
Cassandra of FRILLYFABULOUS. I love the 4th of July theme, especially with summer being the best season of the year (this is a fact, trust me).
You can visit her site and see her post here.
These almost match mine! You should go check out Vanessa on her site, All Things Ness.
These are from my dear friend Erica. I love her blog because she has more fashion sense in her pinky, than I do in my entire body.
I like how she stuck with a classic look. That is so her. Damn you, Erica.
You can check out her post here.
Lolo posted a photo on her (or his? I honestly cannot tell because the photo looks like it is of Viggo Mortenson.) tumblr site. Lolo calls herself completely insane. You are therefore awesome in my book, Lolo. You can see the post, and tumblr page here.
My new friend, Nightingale. I never asked her but I wonder if that is her real name. That would be such a sick name. If my name was Nightingale, I would buy a leather jacket and ride a motorcycle around. But I wouldn’t wear the boots. Those are fugly. Either that, or I would be a surfer. Alas, I must settle for Jasmin instead. So I am forced to listen to people tell me I have a stripper/porn star/Disney character name.
I just love this photo. I want her macro lens soooo badly waaaah!!! Seriously, I you have a moment go check out her photography here at Behind.The.Photo. Gorgeous, fun, photos.
These are from Lovemasquerade’s tumblr page. A photo of her strawberries before they were coated in chocolate. Looks like green and blue funfetti cake. My favorite colors. God, you know me so well. Not to mention she blogged a photo of a bunny with a pancake on it’s head. Why? Because she can. See her tumblr page here.
Another tumblr friend who was more than excited to let me share her photos: Wendy.
Very pink. Makes me want to go to the Hello Kitty store and drool over everything Hello Kitty. God, I loved that place.
See her funny tumblr page here.
Not to be left out, Nicole made some with red velvet. That just so happens to be my favorite for Valentine’s Day. I don’t celebrate Valentine’s day. I just use it as an excuse to bake and eat everything pink/red in existence.
You can check out lovely Nicole’s post here, as well as check out photos of her other delectable meals.
My favorite place to find photos are on the 1 Fine Cookie Facebook fan page. Why? Because I am lazy and it takes no work. No really, I love interacting with readers on it. If you have not “liked” my fb fan page clicking here: http://www.facebook.com/1finecookie, and do it now. Do it. Do it. Do it. If you know what’s good for you.
Angel made these and posted them on the wall. She also included little cake pops. She said they lasted only a few minutes. See? I’m telling you these are amazing.
Also, Angie posted these. I am seeing a pattern with pink quite a bit.
She got very excited with the cake part. Who doesn’t, though?
As for Linda, she used a different method it seems. She may have dripped the chocolate on instead? Either way they look kick ass.
And of course, there is Laura. She and her son made them for his teacher during Teacher Appreciation Week. I used to be a teacher, and I don’t recall feeling that much love.
She packaged them with the nicest little label. How crafty! I can barely tie a ribbon, or glue to pieces of paper together.
I’m totally feeling the love, people.
Have you made one of my recipes? Send a photo or post it on the facebook fan page. Who knows, maybe you will be featured on 1 Fine cookie.
Stay tuned, because next week I have some special recipes just for Father’s day.
****If you are considering posting up photos or ideas from this or any other posts I am truly happy that you are excited and find my recipes interesting enough to share with others. Please see copyright standards in the footer (bottom).
