Superbowl Nuts. That’s Macadamia Helmets and Almond Footballs.
Remember when I made these?
They’re almost too cute to eat.
Almost.
I updated these awestastic (You know, since people are making up words these days. I mashed up awesome and fantastic.) nuts for the Superbowl. I had no choice but to switch them up a bit, because the Patriots blew it. They lost out on an extraordinary and rare opportunity this season. Very few will ever make it to this point, and even fewer succeed more than once.
This season, they shall be deprived of the honor… of being featured on my blog. Oh, yeah, and some other thing called the Super Bowl.
As if last year’s bet wasn’t bad enough. This is what I was forced to make:
Click here to read more about this miserable project.
I’m sort of okay with mixing things up, though. Ravens versus 49ers it is.
Ingredients
For the Ravens
– purple candy melts & a piping bag
– Optional: yellow candy melts
For the 49ers
– peanut butter candy melts or peanut butter chips
–Optional: gold luster dust
For creating the almond footballs, dipping the helmets and piping out the masks, click here for step-by-step instructions. It’s rather easy.
Once you have dipped the helmets and piped on the mask, place purple candy melts into a piping bag. Melt in the microwave for 15 second increments, massaging the bag in between until melted. Pipe a line along the top of the helmet.
Glue the purple Christmas light sprinkle to the side.
Optional: Use a toothpick to dab yellow candy melt on the Christmas light sprinkle for a beak.
For the San Francisco 49ers:
After dipping the helmet, pipe a line with the candy pen across the border. Pipe the helmet, and add a red dot on the side.
Optional: Mix a clean paintbrush with a touch of water and gold luster dust. Brush over helmet.
I like making these in front of the TV. Mix them with plain macadamia nuts and almonds if you want to make a large batch.
Who are you rooting for?
The bitter in me hopes that they run into each other and spontaneously combust. Everyone loses.
****If you are considering posting up photos or ideas from this or any other posts I am truly happy that you are excited and find my recipes interesting enough to share with others.
