Football Field Popsicles

I originally got into food photography and recipe development due to my desire to always have the best party food. So, as a sports lover, football parties are obviously to be included. Aside from puppies, cute food makes me cry tears of joy.

…and these football field popsicles will make you cry tears of joy too. I mean, just hold a puppy in one arm, and one of these popsicles in the other hand. Pretty much you’re now the most popular human being in the building. This is the only reason I have friends. Lure them in with food and stolen puppies.

You will need Budget Saver popsicles for this project. They are super easy to hunt down, and their website even has a store locator to find it locally:

PS they sometimes have coupons online too! shhhhh

I bought a giant BudgetSaver bag with a variety of colors, including the green needed for this project. They are super affordable but don’t skimp out on quality. I used the green popsicles for this project, and then kept the rest to enjoy at my leisure.

Set up your platter for your football field popsicles, by cutting out a football-themed piece of scrapbook paper to fit a baking sheet. Place inside of baking sheet, then cover with plastic wrap. Set in freezer.

Roll out vanilla Tootsie rolls on a piece of parchment paper. Cut out numbers to represent yardage on a football field. Peel and remove Tootsie Roll around numbers. Place in refrigerator until firm.

Remove one green BudgetSaver popsicle at a time. Pat as dry as possible with a paper towel. Working quickly, peel numbers off of parchment paper and stick towards edge of popsicle.

Pipe a frosting or icing onto popsicle to create the lines. Some icings and frostings stick better than others. You want something on the drier side, that won’t slide off of the popsicle. Place back into freezer as soon as possible.

Before serving football field popsicles, you can use a toothpick to clean up football field lines if you need to.

See? You want to be my best friend now, don’t you. If not, lmk and I’ll go purchase some extra puppies too.

Tips:

– The dryer the popsicles, the better!

– Make sure popsicles are level and not tilted or leaning to one side after decorating.

– Test out your icing. If it is too runny, it will not stick to the popsicles.

– Keep Tootsie roll candy rolled out thin. Thicker candy will be too heavy and fall off of the popsicles.
