DIY Homemade Peppermint Spoon Recipe
DIY Homemade Peppermint Spoon Recipe
I’m kind of obsessed with these spoons. NOT because I love mint. I really only love mint with chocolate and whiskey (hot chocolate in this case).
Think about it. Use this peppermint spoon recipe to enhance getting sloshed by the fire. Then, do what I do and run around in a mistletoe headband.
But seriously, let’s make out.
WARNING: Sometimes my brain is a little clueless and innocent, so there will be a couple of peppermint dicks in my photos. This was not clear to me until my friend pointed out the obvious. I apologize for the peppermint dick pics. It was unintentional, but they’re still better than the dick pic messages I receive on instagram. So… you’ve got that going for you.
Ingredients for DIY Homemade Peppermint Spoon Recipe
-Â Round mints
-Â Candy Canes
-Â Silpat
-Â Spoon cookie cutter
To begin your peppermint spoon recipe, break the curve off of the candy cane and lay down with a round mint on a baking sheet lined with a silpat.
Bake at 350 degrees for about 5 minutes. Keep an eye on the mints as oven temperatures may vary.
Remove from oven. Spray a spoon-shaped cookie cutter with vegetable oil. Use it to cut out a spoon shape. Wiggle it around a bit, then let it sit there while candy cools.
Carefully peel candy around cookie cutter. Peel off spoon-shaped candy and immediately place on a small spoon. Press against spoon so that it conforms to the spoon shape.
There’s a multitude of uses for this mini peppermint spoon recipe. You can package them and give as a lovely homemade gift for Christmas, Hanukkah, or just winter. Serve on a plate as tasting spoons that are also edible. Dollop a bit of whipped cream, then place a cube of chocolate cake, brownie, or mini Oreos on top. Partay.
This is my favorite use. Make your favorite hot chocolate. Add a splash of whiskey. Stir in peppermint spoon to mix whiskey and add a hint of peppermint. Enjoy, until you start yelling at the neighbor’s cat.
Happy winter, and be careful of those peppermint dicks. You never know when one will just creep up on you.

Cool idea!
@beth, thanks happy holidays!
So cute! How long do you have to cut out the spoon shape with the cookie cutter, then form on a spoon. I would think the candy would get hard once it cooled. Thanks for sharing this neat gift idea!

@gail, apologies for delayed response as I was traveling. I pretty much place the cookie cutter in immediately, wiggle just slightly, then leave it. The amount of time will vary based on your oven, indoor temp, and where you live, but a few minutes. I let it sit then when it is just cool enough to touch, but still malleable, I peel away border around cookie cutter carefully, then move spoon to a real spoon for molding. It’s basically still hot so you have to be quick to touch it without scalding, but not so hot that you burn your fingers immediately.
I have some store-bought, but your homemade spoons look even better! Great idea!
@sue, gracias, oh genius one
