Breaking Bad Scientist Rock Candy Lollipops and Bling Rings Recipe
Before the season ends, I just had to make some Breaking Bad candy. So, I created rock candy lollipops. Then I made rings because if it isn’t twisted and weird in some way, it isn’t me. Yeah, b****.
Oh, but these aren’t just for Breaking Bad fans. You can use any colors you like; use them for a science or chemistry themed party. Throw these in a vase on a candy buffet or as favors. Use pink for a princess party or bachelorette weekend (you know, because penis jewelry is so overdone at this point). The possibilities are endless.
Anyhoo, this all really started because my fans constantly ask me to make more TV themed food, so here it is. Now stop whining until at least Game of Thrones or The Walking Dead returns.
I am super sad that Breaking Bad is ending so soon, yet, eager to know what the heck is going to happen. Ugh, what is going to happen to Mr. White?!?!
Here’s What You Need for Your Rock Candy Lollies or Rings
– Wilton Sugar Gems (Or any any loose rock candy
)
– Confectioners sugar & a baking sheet OR a silpat
– 1/2 cup sugar – 2 1/2 T corn syrupÂ
- Ring pops and/or Lollipops
- Lollipop sticks (if making the lollies)
– Measuring cup (if making the lollies)
If you will be making the rock candy wearable bling ring, fill a baking sheet with little mounds of confectioners sugar. Make a deep indent into the top of the little powdered sugar piles. I used a regular lollipop to make a round cavity. You can also use a ring pop to push in a hole instead of the lollipop.
Fill the cavities with loose rock candy in blue (for Breaking Bad), or any other color if for a different theme.
If making rock candy lollipops, use the bottom of a measuring cup to push indents into a baking sheet filled with confectioners sugar. Fill bottom with loose rock candy and place a lollipop stick on the bottom.
An alternative option is to use a silpat. It is a smooth mat that you can pour the sugar on and once it cools it will peel off just fine. Just pour and add the rock candy with stick.
Pour the sugar and light corn syrup into a sauce pan and attach a cooking thermometer. Turn on cooking thermometer and cooking on medium high heat. Stir occasionally. Once the boiling sugar reaches about 290 degrees, remove from stove.
Yeah, Mr. White! Yeah, science!
You don’t have to do this, but I stuck the bottom of the pan into a sink filled with some cool water to dissipate the bubbling.
Once bubbling subsides a little, carefully pour sugar into cavities for lollipops and/or ring pops (or begin pouring small circles onto your silpat).
If making the ring pops, you will want to crack the candy off of the plastic part of them beforehand. Once sugar is poured into cavities and rock candy, stick the ring pop plastic into the cavity on top.
Once cooled, remove rings or lollipops. Brush off confectioners sugar.
Stay out of my territory.
I like the rings better.
Yo, ring bling me, b****!
Cool.
West siiiiiiiide.
Right?
