  2. Place KtichenAid mixer attachment into freezer at least 15 hours prior to use. Pour whole milk, 3 ½ cups of cereal into saucepan. Slice Rodelle vanilla pod in half and scoop out beans with tip of knife into saucepan. Add vanilla pod in as well.
  3. Heat at medium low until cereal has broken down and infused into milk. The cereal will have soaked up much of the milk, and the rest will appear almost custard-like. Do not allow your milk to boil, only simmer.
  4. Pour into a strainer and push liquid out of cereal with a spatula. Slowly scoop some of the warm milk into a bowl of 6 egg yolks that have been whisked. Immediately whisk warm milk in, adding more milk a little at a time until half of the milk has been incorporated into eggs.
  5. Pour egg and milk mixture back in with the rest of the milk and heat on stove at medium low heat. Mix constantly with a spatula, until liquid becomes a thick custard and sticks to the spatula.
  6. Fill a very large bowl with ice and some water. Place another bowl inside and fill with cream. Place strainer on top and strain the custard into the cold cream. Use a spatula to mix together. Pour into ice cream maker attached to your stand mixer. Mix on low until it thickens. Add more cereal in right before it is ready. Store in freezer.
