Guest Video: 1 Fine Cookie and Hilah Cooking Make Doritos Locos Tacos
I don’t know if you know this, but when I am not creating random-ass recipes for 1 Fine Cookie blog, I take photos and design recipes for other websites and brands.
A few months ago, one of my clients asked that I do this thing called videos. Umm… Yes.
Now, where is the ON button for this camera?
I furiously trained myself in the art of web video production. Decided that I may as well start videos of my own, you know, because being insane is so in these days. Cue disaster.
Low points of making web vids:
-Learning to talk to a camera. My homies back in Boston know me well enough to laugh when they hear that I was afraid to speak. Talking to humans is different than talking to a camera. Especially on the occasion when nobody is in the room. Just me, and the awkward camera.
-Not being able to chill in my yoga pants. I actually have to wear a bra when filming. I guess I could dress like a slob in videos…Bitch, please. I’m way too vain for that.
High Points:
– Lots of cool new fans as well as old ones excited to see recipes on the vid. The best part of doing this, are my pretend friends I make on the interwebs. Otherwise, it’s just me and my awkward camera on a Saturday night.
-Meeting people of the YouTube universe. I met YouTube star Hilah Johnson of Hilah Cooking at a KitchenAid dinner and somehow we got to talking about my Doritos Locos recipe. Fast forward about a month later and I’m hanging out with her and her partner, Christopher Sharpe, in their kitchen.
I felt like Watson meeting Holmes for the first time. In awe of the information. Actually a more accurate comparison would be Hilah+Chris as Yoda and me as an Ewok. Yeah.
Making tacos with Hilah was so fetch, and I probably inadvertently blurted out dirty taco references a dozen times. Read about funny Hilah and our taco shenanigans here.
